Stormy Prayers
To the USS Independence CV-62
Life has been different since that day,
Out on the deep blue sea.
We look at things with new respect,
My shipmates and me.
The sea shifted from blue to black,
In such a short, short time.
We could see her waves by looking up,
As our lives ran through our minds.
With such deep thought about our past,
Our futures came into play.
With the sea so rough we walked the walls,
Even atheist would pray.
For three long days and endless nights
We thought our lives had been in vain,
Then came the answer to our prayers,
The end of the hurricane
